Formation of the Santa Clara County Flood Control Employees Association

1971

Formation of the Santa Clara County Flood Control and Water District Employees Association

1973

Organization changed name to Employees Association-Santa Clara Valley Water District

1974

Board Resolution 74-48 adopted which defined Classified Service at the District
District adopts Policy 5-023 Board Resolution 70-35 Adopted
Employees Association represents all classified service employees
Engineers Society formed (withdrew from Association)

1976

Employees Association adopts first MOU

1981

Board Resolution 70-36 Adopted

1992

Employees Association affiliates with AFSCME for 2 year trial period

1994

Employees Association votes to renew affiliation with AFSCME voting took place 9/22-9/29/1994 Yes 201 No 51

1996

Mid Management Association formed (withdrew from Employees Association)
Mid Management Adopts first MOU
Engineers Society lists Engineer Titles in MOU

2004

Agency Shop vote put to membership March 2004 Votes to adopt Agency Shop Yes=195 No=79
Employees Association adopts Agency Shop provision

The Employees Association was established in 1968.  The objective of the Union is  to improve the wages, hours, working conditions, and the health and safety of its members, promote their intellectual, social and economic welfare, and represent its Membership in disputes between its members and the Santa Clara Valley Water District.

Note: Membership Meetings typically occur the first Wednesday of the Month from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m.  The meeting details should be in an Outlook Meeting Request.  If you do not have an Outlook Meeting Request with the details. Please contact an EA Officer.
